What’s in a Name?

How do you know when you’ve found your soul mate? Travel together! The little crises that always arise will tell you all you need to know. Control issues surface, tempers flare, and patience wanes. (Yes, it’s a mixed metaphor, but only Amanda will notice or care.) We fell in love traveling together. From our honeymoon in Jamaica, to our drive across Ireland, to our trips to Hawaii (with and without our kids), we’ve always enjoyed the journey.

Friends and family always ask either, “How was your trip?” or “Where are you going next?” With the trip of a lifetime coming up, we wanted to share the adventure through this travel blog.

Safari is Swahili for journey. We hope you enjoy our journeys with us, from Africa to wherever the four winds blow.

The other way to know you’ve found your soul mate is that you laugh at the same silly jokes, like “Safari So Good.”

The truth is, my sister instigated this trip! While Michael and I have talked about going to Africa, we had no date set, not even a year. My sister decided that the time was now and she asked if I would please go with her. I didn’t want her to go alone and we did want to go — so, why not now? My sister’s husband will not be joining us, any consideration of him going ended when he asked my sister, “Why do you want to go to Africa? You can see giraffes and elephants at the zoo.” I guess he’s going to the zoo…

This a really cute idea and blog…..I will be following you guys as you travel. Don’t drink the water in Africa, or is it no water in Mexico and no eating ostrich in Africa….not sure you’ll have to google it. Love you both.

Sounds like you guys are having a once-in-a-lifetime journey! Wish I could have joined in the adventure. It’s on my bucket list, just a few items down from the top. Send pics and don’t step in ostrich dung.:)
